Kiddie Korner!

What a year this will be if
you’re a kid – and our definition of “kid” is not age-specific. This year
we have clearly broken all records with the type and variety of entertainment
for those young at heart. Remember the carnival? Well, we don’t
have the elephants, but we do have the games. Try to throw a football
through a narrow opening; try to flip a squishy frog onto a lily pad; throw a
bean bag through a toilet seat; and a couple more fun challenges. Yes, we
will even have prizes for those agile and adept players that are able to
succeed. And for you Dads and Moms that want to impress your kids – there
is no age limit – so come on down! For those less interested in “action
sports”, we also have our popular “LegoLand”, face painting, a 50’
crawl-through dragon, a real fire engine and police car, and of course our
gigantic painting mural. Then, we’ve added a mini-train for tours down
Market Street and a delightful robot-car. Whew! This is one year
when being a kid at heart will be a ton of fun. Who’s the first to sign
on?

Restaurants - Delectable "Tastes" Coming June 14th

Everyone knows that new businesses and new residents indicate a growing community. While everyone suspects that the Reston area is growing or even booming, not every new business has a visible street sign and new residents usually quickly blend into the fabric of the community. What everyone notices, however, is when a new retail store opens up, or a new restaurant comes to Town Center. And, so it is with the booming economy that is identified with Reston. This will be exemplified at the 19th annual Taste of the Town being held at Reston Town Center on June 14th. Included in this year’s restaurant participants are a dozen new restaurants, some of whom haven’t even opened their doors yet. Of course, we’ll have the familiar restaurant faces like Reston’s famous Buffalo Wing Factory, Clydes, McCormicks, Big Bowl, Paradise Ice Cream (funnel cakes – yum) and many more. But new this year are Il Fornaio (who opened their Market Street location last September), Mon Ami Gabi, Great American Restaurants, Vinifera (in the brand new Westin Reston), Chaboz Taqueria and Champps. Even more are coming in as we speak. What better way to check out all the old and new restaurants in Reston by enjoying a sample of their best fare presented for your enjoyment. Would love to know your favorites from years past!
